Kudjawu & Co is the successor to a UK based firm, Giles Hunt & Co. and it is one of the oldest and most experienced legal outfits in Ghana. The firm offers comprehensive legal advice, court representation and other legal services to both local clients and clients with international business interests, specializing in privatizations, mergers and acquisitions, corporate, commercial, labor, insurance, family and intellectual property laws. The firm is the premier intellectual property law firm in Ghana and works with a number of world famous intellectual property law agents. The firm has an extensive international client base including many large multinational corporations and it is widely respected and recognized for its professionalism and for providing legal services of high quality. The Law Firm of Kudjawu & Co. succeeded Giles Hunt & Co. an English Law Firm founded in or about 1900 and practicing in the then Gold Coast until the country became independent under the name of Ghana. The Firm specialized in corporate, commercial, industrial and intellectual property laws. In 1963, the last expatriate partner in the firm of Giles Hunt & Co left Ghana and the practice of Giles Hunt & Co. was taken over by Kudjawu & Co. The firm Kudjawu & Co., like its predecessor, specializes in corporate, commercial, industrial and intellectual property laws. Kudjawu & Co. has additional specialization in labor, maritime, insurance and family laws. The firm has over the years provided legal service to numerous clients both within and outside Ghana in areas such as mining, petroleum, banking, telecommunications, maritime, aviation, insurance and others. With over 54 years of experience in the industry, the firm has advised major international organizations on numerous aspects of the law. The firm conducted legal due diligence as part of a team of consultants that advised the Government of Ghana on divestitures in Ghana. The firm has also provided legal consultancy services to the World Bank and International Finance Corporation. The firm was involved in the floatation and listing of Ghana Commercial Bank on the local Stock Exchange and Ashanti Goldfields Company Limited (now Anglogold Ashanti) on the Ghana, London and New York Stock Exchanges. It was also involved in the floatation of British American Tobacco Company Limited then Pioneer Tobacco Ghana Limited and was the legal advisor in the merger between British American Tobacco Company Limited and Meridian Tobacco Limited. It has also done extensive work in the telecommunications sector. Recently it advised Ethiopian Airlines in its negotiations with Ghana International Airlines. |
